T-Rex

I made this one for my boys birthday this year. It turned out all right considering it was all done free hand, no mold, nothing to really go off of. I had wanted to make it a darker shade of green, however I didn't have the time or money to go and buy the Wilson color flakes that make really bold colors. My boys really liked this cake and thought it was very "creepy". I did have fun making it, but I did start to feel stressed towards the end. It took quite a while.

Super Mario

This cake was made for another cute nephew, Cole. He had a huge Mario phase and we made all sorts of decorations to go along with all of it. The idea for this cake was also from online. It was actually a two-tiered cake, however we decided it would have been too much cake for what we needed. Although it would have been fun to do the two layers. This cake was lots of fun to make. It let some of my own creativity and love of Super Mario World come through.

Soccer Ball

This cake was made for my cute nephew, Gabe. He was on a soccer team at the time and was very big into soccer. I actually made two basically identical cakes. Not too hard to make, however a soccer ball ( as simple as it looks) is not that easy to draw free-hand.

Monkey

I made this cake for one of my boys' 1st birthday. It was the first cake I tried on my own. I can't take the credit for creativity though, I saw this idea online somewhere--as are most of the cakes I've made. It was so yummy. I have the best chocolate buttercream frosting recipe for it thanks to Paulette!

Just for fun!

I have created this blog Just For Fun. Those of you who know me know that I don't have a lot of talents or hobbies and the few that I do have I rarely have time to do them. But one thing that I've started enjoying is making themed cakes for my kids birthdays or family birthdays. Although I haven't gone to school for this (as mush I would love to) and I haven't done this as a career or anything, it is becoming something I enjoy and wanted to share with others. I am hoping that as events come along and as I do more cakes that I can get any tips or ideas that any of you might have. And if I'm lucky maybe I can do a fun cake for any of you! Most the cakes I have made I have had my Sister'n Law Paulette give me a few pointers or she has lent me the right pans or tools. She has her own cake blog as well that I will try to post a link to on this blog as well. She is very talented and much more skilled than I am, and motivates me to always do better. So without further adue... Let's Make Some Cakes!!!
